WHO WE ARE

The University of Edinburgh is one of the largest and most successful universities in the UK, with an international reputation as a centre of academic excellence. In June 2008 the Times Higher rated the university in the world top 8 for Ecology and Environment research. Its international character is reflected in its student population, which comprises 24,500 students from over 120 different countries worldwide. It can also be found in its truly international staff as well as in its joint research with overseas universities, institutes, companies and governments. The main body of work on this project will be carried out within the School of GeoSciences, which provides scientific evidence and analyses that support policies for sustainable development in the fields of energy and climate, land and water use, as well as international development. It is a hub for policy-related, interdisciplinary research and teaching within the University of Edinburgh.

  • Ecosystem services and environmental change, and in particular how the ecosystem approach relates to traditional approaches to conservation.

  • Evaluating the role of land use and land cover change in the Earth system

WHAT WE DO IN IMPRESSIONS

  • Co-lead WP3 on advancing Climate Change Impact, Adaptation and Vulnerability methods and models
  • Contribute to the European scale modelling methods, especially Agent-Based Modelling
  • Leading the Scottish case study
  • WP5 synthesis of results for assessing risks and opportunities, including uncertainty analysis,
  • WP6 involvement, planning and execution of the stakeholder workshops and other dissemination activities.

Postdoctoral researcher in socio-ecology and environmental policy.
Scotland Case Study Leader.
Research focus on decision-maker needs for climate change adaptation, holistic decision-making, adaptation to climate change, knowledge exchange, co-production of knowledge, working with stakeholders, socioeconomic scenarios for climate change policy, cross-sectoral assessments of climate change impacts, integrated decision-making in the land resource management sector.
